Al Mahabba Ensemble's percussionistYannis Eustathopoulos was born and grew up in France where he early got familiar with the music of Arabs and other communities of immigrants of his neighbourhood. For five years, he worked as a musical producer for radio "Campus " in the city of Grenoble presenting "Taqsim ".The subject of this particular broadcast was the presentation of the wide musical tradition of the Mediterranean and Balkans and its relation with social, cultural and historical characteristics of populations of those regions. This emission very soon attracted the interest of the audience that for first time had the opportunity to discover the unique beauty and wealth of the Mediterranean and Balkan music. At the same time, he dealt systematically with the study of percussions of arabic music (arabic tabla, rek, etc) under the teaching of various Arab and Greek musicians (Mahdi El Dajani, Nikos Darilas, Rowan Storm, etc).He is colaborating with the Tunisia singer Lamia Bedioui and the Al Harissa ensemble, the Iraqi singer Mohamed Al Numa and the Rubayat ensemble and more recently with the Al Mahabba ensemble. In the past he collaborated with Irini Daskalaki and the known Serb composer and guitarist Dragan Milenkovic (Azari ensemble).
